- FICTION - "Dien Cai Dau" - Author: Yusef Komunyakaa - (A Vietnam
Veteran offers a beautiful destruction in an intense poetic state. This
poetry leaves sorrow, but, amazes beyond belief. Could probably take 30
minutes to read.)
- FICTION - "Junky" - Author: William S. Burroughs - (Burroughs a
fantastic author, poet, and heroin addict, as well as arguably the
founder of the Punk movement in the U.S. writes a tremendous story of
addiction, happiness, and poetic craving. "Junky" is phenominally
fantastic, well put together, and a fast read.)
- FICTION - "The Dharma Bums" - Author: Jack Kerouac - (For most avid
readers Kerouac is a widely well known author, his reknown for poetry
and Zenism is far more greater than any other generalizations of him.
But Kerouac offers in this novel a tremendous story of illuminating
beauty, sequential life questions, and the key to personal belief and
love. A fantastic read, it will let your mind wander.)
- NON-FICTION - "A People's History of the United States: 1492-To
Present" - Author: Howard Zinn - (This book sheds light on the United
States nationalistic curtain that shrowds the inhumane path that has
led to the most powerful nation on earth. Every high school should have
one.)
- NON-FICTION - "Mainlines, Blood Feasts, and Bad Taste: A Lester
Bangs Reader " - Author: Lester Bangs - (From Punk to Rock 'N' Roll
arguably the greatest Rock critic of all time sends the new generation
of rock fans a taste of genius and poetry in his definition of what it
means to make good music.)
- NON-FICTION - "Rise to Globalism: American Foreign Policy Since
1938" - Authors: Stephen Ambrose and Douglas G. Brinkley - (This book
shows the amazing journey of the United States on a path that
inevitably leads to the global super power. It not only covers the
amazing but general historical events that happened due to the U.S.
interactions with the world, but offers the stories that were left out,
including personal feelings of the actors involved. Probably the best
read when dealing with historical interpretation and present
understanding of the U.S. foreign policy.)
- NON-FICTION - "The History of the Standard Oil Company" - Author:
Ida M. Tarbell - (The United States industrialization is well known and
taught in every high school. However, the business practices of the
monopolistic trusts that were formed during pre-Roosevelt
administrations are not. This book offers a different interpretation on
big business during the industrial revoltion.)
- NON-FICTION - "The Secrets of Judas: The story of the Misunderstood
Disciple and His Lost Gospel" - Author: James M Robinson - (What if
Jesus wanted Judas to betray him, what if Judas was just misguided by
his own lord? What exactly were Judas's feelings from his perspective?
Well..... This book offers those explanations. A fast read, A must
read. Understand and interpret it with your belief.)
